Shape of Dreams almost never describes its bosses in words. The names that can be sourced come from two official places: the v1.4 patch notes and the shipped achievement list. Anything else on the internet is either a community nickname or, in a few documented cases, invented.

The bosses named by official sources

BossWhere the name appearsWhat that source actually says
Starving Beastv1.4 patch notesReceived a Unique Memory and a Unique Banner; skills returned after defeat come back at least three levels higher than they were destroyed at
The Master of Dreamv1.4 patch notesChain Lightning now prioritises summons as its next chain target once it hits one
Jonasv1.4 patch notesThe update improved the audiovisual impact of defeating it
Heroic BossAchievement recordsA recurring encounter class with its own challenges, including a no-damage kill as Bismuth
Snowy Mountain KingAchievement recordsDefeat it while fielding four Cold damage Memories
Burning GiantAchievement recordsDefeat it as Vesper while holding three or more Fire Memories
Demon of the ForestAchievement recordsKill it twelve times; a second record asks for a kill delivered by clawing it
BelphometAchievement recordsDefeat it within two minutes of starting an adventure as Mist
Guardian TwinsAchievement recordsFight both Guardians simultaneously and win
Guardian of ImpermanenceAchievement recordsAs Nachia, defeat one without taking damage
Soul SwordsmenAchievement recordsDeliver fifty finishing blows using basic attacks
Thunder TigersAchievement recordsLand twenty-five finishing blows with lightning
HuntersAchievement recordsAn enemy class, not a boss: one record counts seventy kills, another asks you to finish three runs without killing any

The base-route final encounter is Primus, the First Dreamer, faced at the Rift of Beginnings. That name comes from community records and recorded runs rather than an official text, so treat it as well-attested rather than developer-confirmed.

The achievement wording is a difficulty spec

Read the achievements as developer-written statements about what each fight tolerates. Four Cold Memories against the Snowy Mountain King is not a requirement; it is a hint that this arena rewards a single-element build. Belphomet’s two-minute timer is a speed gate, not a survival test. Soul Swordsmen reward basic attacks.

That is the closest thing to official boss guidance this game publishes, and it is more reliable than a phase table someone measured once.

Heroic bosses are two different things

The update notes describe Heroic Boss hard patterns, a difficulty modifier applied to world bosses from Ominous Dream upward. The achievement list describes the Heroic Boss, a recurring named encounter. Community guides conflate them constantly because they share a word. One is a system, the other is an enemy.

How to learn a boss nobody has written about

  1. Treat the first attempt as a scout. Your goal is a mental note of each wind-up and how much space it covers.
  2. Bring a shield-friendly Traveler. Cetus is the only Traveler the developer describes as shielding allies, which lowers the cost of a mistake.
  3. Use the achievement list as the hint sheet. If a fight has an achievement, the wording tells you what the developers expected you to bring.
  4. Only optimise on the second attempt. Damage rotations are the last thing to solve, not the first.
